One very common misconception is that itchy eyes = allergies. Nothing could be further from the truth! 6/10 patients have mites in their eyelashes (Demodex Blepharitis) which causes redness and itching in the eyes and on the eyelids/skin around the eyes. In fact, if you feel that your contact lenses are difficult to wear due to discomfort, it’s possible that you have eyelash mites. It’s not always the fault of the contact lens! Sometimes, patients with mites have NO symptoms and are diagnosed solely by a thorough eye examination.
